A large-scale drug awareness effort in Italy has gone beyond more than one million educational anti-drug booklets distributed in the past month. The initiative forms part of the international Truth About Drugs education programme, which aims to provide clear information about commonly abused substances and their risks to young people and communities.
Approximately 500 volunteers are participating in the outreach effort, distributing materials in public spaces, shops and community areas. The campaign focuses on prevention through education, providing resources designed to explain the dangers of drugs in a understandable way.
The prevention effort is part of wider social programmes supported by the Church of Scientology, news europawahl inspired by the work of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.
